The Legacy

A couple of times weekly we will continue to add to our list of distinguished alumni. They will be listed in chronological order of Class year, beginning with the Class of 2005. Check back regularly.-Coach Max Ivany

Class of 2006

Whitworth “Junior” Treasure     G  6’3″    Fort Bend Bush (TX)     Texas Southern

Treasure led the City of Houston in scoring for two years, no easy feat. He was the JuCo Player of the Year at Shreveport-Bossier, and played one year of D1 basketball for Texas Southern, averaging 14.6 ppg.  What could have been.  Junior was truly one of the most talented players to ever wear the D1 Ambassadors uniform.

Marlon Williams        P 6’0″               Pflugerville (TX)                   Texas Tech (football)

Undersized, but hard nosed in the post, Williams went on to an outstanding career on the gridiron with Texas Tech earning 4 letters as a hard hitting linebacker.

Matt Zaney                   F 6’6″                Austin St. Stephens (TX)   Texas-Pan American

Zaney was one of the D1 Nation’s most hard nosed alums.  He always battled bigger guys down low with his physical style of play.  Played initially at UT-Permian Basin and then became a rare D2 transfer to a D1 school, Texas-Pan American.  Matt now lives in Los Angeles where he is working for Sherwin-Williams Corporate.

Leslie Jackson           F 6’4″                Bryan (TX)           Lousiana Tech/Texas-San Antonio

Jackson was a high energy, explosive player who always gave 100%.  He signed with Louisiana Tech and played one year there.  A coaching change saw Leslie go to JC for a season and then he completed his college career at Texas-San Antonio.  Leslie is a talented musician and is now in the music business.

Brandon Webster    P 6’10″              Bryan (TX)            Texas A&M/Fresno State

One of the best shotblockers to ever rep the D1 Ambassadors, Webster originally signed with Texas A&M.  When Coach Billy Gillispie took the Kentucky job Webster decided to head to Fresno State.  Brandon played professionally in El Salvador this past season.

Chip Ivany    6’0″ G       Pflugerville Connally (TX)    South Alabama/Texas-San Antonio

The original D1 Ambassador, my son Chip Ivany.  Chip had a great high school career starting over 100 varsity games and scoring 1500 points at the Texas 4A level including a big 28 point playoff performance for Pflugerville Connally against Boerne in the 2005 playoffs. His college career was injury riddled.  The highlight was getting to the NCAA tournament in 2008 with South Alabama as they paired up against the Butler Bulldogs.  Chip graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Texas-San Antonio in December 2010.  He works for the Touch Agency, a sports marketing firm and lives in San Antonio with his girl, (Texas-San Antonio star Judy Jones) and his son Julian.

Bryan Beasley   G 6’0″        Pflugerville (TX)                     Rice University

Bryan was a four year varsity player for Coach Mike Murphy at Pflugerville, originally signing with Texas A&M.  After his first year as a redshirt and the subsequent move by Coach Billy Gillispie, Beasley transferred to Rice.  He started as a senior and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from one of the country’s most prestigious universities. He currently works for a securities firm in Houston, TX.  Bryan hit many game winners on the club circuit with the D1 Ambassadors including buzzer beaters against the Southern Cal All Stars (Brandon Jennings) and the H Squad (Bryan Westbrook) in the same day.

Class of 2005

Jeremy Buttell   6’8″ F        Colleyville Heritage (TX)     Texas Tech/Illinois-Chicago

Jeremy holds a special place in my heart as the first Texas D1 Ambassador to become a D1 player.  He was tough down low, had a nice mid range shot and a high end motor.  He averaged 12.2 ppg and a team leading 7.5 rpg as a senior. Jeremy’s career included a brief, injury plagued season in Luxembourg before returning to the States. He not only graduated from Illinois-Chicago he also obtained his Master’s degree and is now part of the coaching staff there. A true role model for all the player’s who followed in his footsteps.
