Texas State 5A Playoff Predictions (Region 2)

Projected 1st round winners in Texas 5A, Region 2

A&M Consolidated           Dallas Jesuit               Garland Naaman Forest       Mesquite

Round Rock McNeil        Humble Kingwood    Woodlands College Park      Austin Westlake

Desoto                                 Dallas Skyline               Richardson Berkner        Killeen Harker Heights

Austin Bowie                    Spring Dekaney            Spring Westfield               Pflugerville

Lots of shout outs and opinions in this region.  First of all, A&M Consolidated may have the most complete and college ready player in a state with 4 McDonald’s All Americans (and he wasn’t even one of them).  That’s Alex Caruso, the 6’6″ stud who can play the one, two or three at the college level.  He’s fun to watch.

There is no physically dominant team out of Austin this year but McNeil has the best record.  They’ve got guard depth and an X factor in 2014 G Trae Dilworth who can also play down low with his athleticism.

I sure wouldn’t have let the Austin Anderson-Pflugerville game locale come down to a coin flip.  Anderson is more talented but 2013 PG T.J. Williams of Pflugerville who has played the last 10 days with a broken thumb is a gamer.

If the Area’ most dangerous 3 point shooter Pflugerville’s Napoleon Onyeje is hot then The Ville gets the upset.  If Anderson uses it’s athleticism and size with PG John Gramlich, W Rasmus Bach, Hayden Graham (Air Force), and 6’7″ Alex Frame then they snag a playoff win in a program that has been revived under 2nd year Coach Leal Anderson.  It should be fun.

Austin Anderson's PG John Gramlich runs the show but it may be his lock down D that decides the game.
