D1 Nation: NCAA Alumni Performances of the Week
25. Max Yon Fr. 6’5″ San Antonio Reagan (TX) Air Force
Yon is beginning to get minutes. Last night he had 10 points, 2 rebounds and was Player of the Game as Air Force had it’s first ever victory over a Top 20 team in it’s history vs San Diego State.
24. Tre Nichols Sr. 5’11″ Killeen (TX) Boise State
Nichols had 6 points 2 rebounds and 6 assists vs Colorado State.
23. Paul Garnica So. 6’0″ San Antonio Lee (TX) Northern Colorado
After a few weeks of being slowed by nagging injuries and getting in a sophomore defensive slump, Garnica has regained his starting PG spot and had 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists vs Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
22. Travis Jones Sr. 6’6″ Georgetown (TX) Texas State
Jones had 6 points, 8 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals vs South Dakota.
21. As mentioned earlier, Paul Garnica is revitalized at Northern Colorado. He had 14 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and two steals vs Eastern Washington.
20. Brian Williams RS-Fr. 6’6″ Baton Rouge Glen Oaks (LA) Oklahoma State
Williams had 8 points and 3 rebounds vs the Texas Longhorns. However it was his defensive performance that was so impressive as the 6’6″ guard had 6 steals and 3 blocked shots from his wing position.
19. Mark Nwakamma Fr. 6’6″ Leander (TX) Hartford
Nwakamma had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists vs Maine.
18. Cody Doolin So. 6’2″ Austin Westlake (TX) San Francisco
Doolin (aka the Gonzaga Killer..he had 23 points against them last year as a freshman) did it again last night. He had 8 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals in the win over the Zags. Once again he outplayed Gonzaga’s more ballyhooed giards including David Stockton. Papa Jim Doolin made the trek out West and was on hand with his wife, Becky to see her baby boy give the Zags the business first hand in the Bay City.
17. Jason Brickman So 5’11″ San Antonio Clark (TX) Long Island
Brickman led Long Island to the win with 9 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists over Sacred Heart.
16. Mark Nwakamma had his second excellent performance of the week as he had 18 points and 3 rebounds and an assist vs St. Peter’s.
15. Travis Jones is closing out his senior year in style as he had 17 points and 6 rebounds vs Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
14. Royce O’Neale Fr. 6’5″ Harker Heights (TX) Denver
Denver keeps rolling and so does true freshman, “Rolls” Royce O’Neale. He had 5 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists vs Louisiana-Lafayette.
13. Joel Smith Jr. 6’4″ Leander (TX) Northeastern
Smith had 20 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in a win over Towson State.
12. Jordan Clarkson So. 6’5″ Converse Wagner (TX) Tulsa
Clarkson had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals against Southern Mississippi.
11. John Henson Jr. 6’11″ Round Rock (TX) North Carolina
Henson had 13 points, 8 reboundsm an assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks vs the Clemson Tigers.
10. Joel Smith makes his 2nd appearanc eof the week another 20 point effort. This time he added 2 rebounds, 3 assists a steal and a block in Northeastern’s win over Stony Point.
9 . TaShawn Thomas Fr. 6’8″ Killeen (TX) Houston
Thomas had 11 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 3 blocks vs Southern Mississippi.
8. Cameron Moore Sr. 6’10″ San Antonio Roosevelt (TX) Alabama-Birmingham
Moore is a double double machine. He had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists vs Southern Methodist.
7. Soph PG Jason Brickman continues his torrid assist pace. He has moved into the NCAA’s Top 10 “dime droppers” as he had a 10 point, 2 rebound and 16 assist…yes 16! vs Quinnipiac.
6. Cody Doolin’s 2nd performance of the week was a 16 point, 6 rebound and 7 assist effort in a one point loss to Brigham Young.
5. Henson continues to rack up double doubles for the powerful Tar Heels. He dominated against Miami with 14 points, 11 rebounds 2 assists and 3 blocks.
4. Deon Mitchell Fr. 6’0″ Pflugerville (TX) Northern Iowa
The silky smooth Mitchell is really coming into his own in the latter part of the season. He had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal vs Virginia Commonwealth.
3. Clarkson continues to cement himself as Tulsa’s leader and is headed to an All Conference selection. He had 23 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals vs Rice.
2. Andre Roberson So. 6’7″ Converse Wagner (TX) Colorado
Roberson is finding the PAC-12 to his liking as he contnues to feast on double doubles. He had 12 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal vs the Utah Utes.
1. With so many great alumni at the NCAA level, Moore continues to be at the top of our list at the D1 Nation most weeks. He is finishing up a great career at UAB with a 25 points, 11 rebound, and 2 block performance in dismantling Tulane.
