San Antonio Round Up: Tuesday, January 31st

San Antonio Brennan  58  Kerrville Tivy  49

Brennan and Tivy were neck and neck until a  3rd quarter run led by 2013 G Johnny Azzinaro (25) put Tivy away. He got help from 2013 F George King who added 11.  2013 P 6’7″ Zach overby showed he’s the heart of the Antlers as he battled his way to 19 tough points inside.

San Antonio Alamo Heights 59  New Braunfels Canyon 50

Game of the night was up I-35 a ways to New Braunfels.  The visiting Mules took care of business 59-50.  With Canyon Coach brad Lacey choosing to shut down 2012 G Jeffrey Rodewald (scored 56 in a game last Tuesday) it came down to the inside outside punch of 2014 F 6’8″ Ben Lammers and Senior G Dylan Lieck.  Lammers managed 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks as he clearly outduelled 2012 P 6’10″ Andrew Poulter (Arkansas-Little Rock.

The X Factor though was Lieck who added 14 points of his own as Canyon concentrated on Lammers, Rodewald and 6’8″ Shelby Lane (Claremont College  CA).  As has been the case this year for all but San Antonio Brandeis, Alamo Heights is simply too big and too deep on it’s front line.

San Antonio Brandeis 38  San Antonio Marshall 28

Guess they took the air out of the ball?  Either way it’s good for Brandeis to know how to play at different paces as they head to their first playoff berth.

San Antonio Warren  68  San Antonio O’Connor 65

Long Island commit, 6’7″ Taurean Prince Waller is my hands down pick for San Antonio Player of the Year.  He’s taken the Warriors on hi back numerous time including last night as he scored 33 points.

San Antonio Holmes 50  San Antonio Stevens 49

Senior G Joseph Teniente scored 18 as Holmes nipped Stevens despite SMU commit Uche Ofoegbu’s 23 points.

San Antonio Churchill 75  San Antonio MacArthur 53

MacArthus has been decimated by injuries and Churchill is good, and deep.  They emptied the benches last night with everyone getting in on the action . 2012 Connor Lammert (Texas) got his 10 points and then chilled for the evening.

Converse Wagner 45  Converse Judson 41

What Judson does better than anybody is play with a lead.  They will dundamental you to death and be so disciplined it will drive their opponent crazy.  Last night in the Converse Civil War it was Wgner who jumped on top and never took their foot off the Rockets throat.  In what has become Wagner’s trademark they will go 15 deep.  Nobody scored more than 8 points and they still got the win.  2014 P David Wacker continues to assert himself and led all scorers with 14 in the loss.
