Austin Anderson 67 Austin Westlake 47
The D1 Nation was in the house tonight for this match up. With their backs against the wall in district play (1-2) the Anderson Trojans defended their home court in convincing fashion, thumping Westlake 67-47. The tone was set early as Coach Leal Anderson’s crew got into Westlake’s grille defensively. They extended it to the perimeter and never allowed the Chaps to have decent outside looks. This strategy did open some inside looks but Westlake missed chippies down low and after the 1st quarter it was 12-4.
The closest Westlake got for the remainder of the entire game was 9 points. There was always an answer, usually a solid defensive stop when it looked like Westlake might have a run in them. 2012 Hayden Graham (Air Force) was solid the whole way through and finished with 15 points and 6 boards. 2013 G John Gramlich showed off his silky smooth jumper and also went 8-9 from the charity stripe to lead all scorers with 23 points.
KVUE did a story on 2013 Aussie G Rasmus Bach today and apparently it motivated him as he had 10 points and the play of the game in the 3rd quarter when he went baseline and served up a two handed facial. The X Factor in the first three quarters was the work of Alex Frame. The 2012 F had 7 points, including a nice drive from the win. He led all rebounders with 10.

Westlake was unconfortable all night as their leading scorers Will Morse (10), R.J. Rowan (10) and Drew Wikelius (9) were all held well below their season averages. This was Anderson’s night. They answered the bell and rocked the Chaps. With Bowie’s win over Del Valle tonight (50-41) the District spots are once again muddled and up for grabs. Air Force (Hayden) and Wayland Baptist (Rowan) were both in the house watching the prospects.
